Hellblade dev sets the bar for new-gen pragmatism – at the top of an impossibly detailed stairway
Hellblade developer Ninja Theory has discharged a covert video for its upcoming horror game Project Mara, and it centers around the development of an impossibly realistic in-game staircase.
To beryllium light up, the prune is more about creating the most realistic-looking staircase from a performance viewpoint; that is, the movement of the characters walk up and down the stairs too Eastern Samoa the physics of a stairway subordinate the weight of actual people. Regardless, the staircase - and hell, the whole dang apartment - looks incredible from a purely graphical viewpoint too. Ninja Theory dove further into that lateral of the visuals in an impressive preview from January.
"After construction a hyper-realistic flat in-engine for Throw Mara, we recreated parting of the chief staircase inch by inch in our studio," reads the video captions. "By pairing this accurately calculated set with our virtual production stage, we can capture the almost representational and believable performance possible."

Creating a factual-life replica staircase modeled closely after the in-game one, and and so mo-capping actors walking up and down it, certainly seems equal going in a higher place and on the far side, but IT's nobelium easy undertaking making "the near realistic video game staircase ever." If the developers are going to these lengths just for a simple set of apartment stairs, unitary can only imagine how tangled the development process gets in bigger, more action-dull sequences.
Ninja Theory was acquired by Xbox Game Studios in 2018, and IT's prepping to bring out Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 arsenic a new-gen selective for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Project Mara, the studio's new experimental revulsion crippled, was discovered alongside this cryptic teaser hindmost in January 2020. Both games are without release dates for now, but expect Hellblade 2 to launch ahead of Project Dolichotis patagonum.
These are all the upcoming Xbox Series X games we can't wait to play.
