Because of the influence of French, Spanish and Caribbean immigrants on its culture, this 300 year old city is a rarity among American destinations. While staying in town you can see this diversity in the architecture of the city from the Art Deco state capitol building to 18th century plantations to the Italian Renaissance style of the scenic LSU campus.

Just over an hour's drive and 80 miles south of Baton Rouge is New Orleans, Louisiana's most famous city.
